First time poster, long time lurker. Finally got a 2014 LX570!! This thing is beautiful!! Plan is to slowly add overlanding/off roading accessories to it.

What should I do first? Any list of progression would be helpful.

Thanks,

Welcome! Nice night shot. The 200 section has a great set of build threads in the FAQs. Pick some with an LX with interests similar to yours for ideas. A complete preventative maintenance, though not very exciting, should probably be first.

drive it for a bit and enjoy it. I added husky floor mats for the first and second row, and a mobile phone mount from pro clip.

This is the right answer. Think about what purpose you want to use it for. Go out and try it to see what modification(s) would make achieving that purpose easier/safer/more enjoyable. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how little it this truck needs.

Congrats. Get good tires and good floor mats. Those two upgrades alone will get you almost everywhere you can imagine going. After that, as others have said, take a little time to think about how you’ll use the truck.

What tires do you recommend? I run Michelin LTX on my other vehicles but not sure about the LX.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I have always run BFG KO/2s on my trucks but there are so many more options these days. My thoughts on this are, If your going to stick mostly on paved roads and well maintained dirt roads, P rated tires are fine. If you are going to be off-road with any regularity, you may want something D/E rated. It also goes back to uses (off road terrain, towing, etc).

To be honest though, lots of folks get along just fine in all kinds of terrain with highway tires. Having said that, my experience has been that tires are the most likely point of failure so....

I would check out the LX Picture thread before you do anything. Although it is primarily a thread for eye candy, it is also an amazing resource for LX specific topics: Official LX570s Picture Thread

Before you add anything to the truck, really think about how you plan to use it. There are lots of cool things out there to buy but they may either add little to your needed capabilities or actually degrade the vehicle capabilities. What trips to you want to take? Where do you want to go and with how many people? How much do you have to spend on trips (not gear). Or do you just like to build cool trucks?

Thank you for your response! The LX570 picture thread is making me drool.

You're right, all things i need to think about and take into consideration before going too crazy. Why in your signature does it say 2014 - LX570 (good riddance)? Did you have a bad experience?

The LX I owned was a great vehicle but it ended up not meeting my needs for what I do. The main reason I bought it was that LCs were impossible to find and I wanted to allow my 400k mile 100 to retire gracefully. So I made a rash decision and later realized, for me, that I really needed an LC. I am sure you are going to love your LX, as so many owners do.

The Michelin defender tire is an excellent tire that wears like iron. Most here go for a more ”aggressive” tread pattern. Ill be shopping for tires soon, but the ones that came on my truck are too damn new.

Aren't there different versions of the LTX? I have Defenders on my Highlander that are excellent, but I also seem to recall that there is a performance version as well as an A/T D rated version, but maybe I'm mis-remembering.
