Hi all: just picked up another 2018 LX570 for my fleet. Came with everything I need except crossbars. My other LX570 has OEM crossbars which work for me however I can’t pull into the garage with skis on top on my Thule snowpack 6. Maybe an inch too high with the back binding not clearing my garage entrance. Unloaded rack clears. Lowering the car works but remembering each time is too risky- ask how I know… I also cant mount my Thule ascent box side by side with the snowpack 6.

Wondering if anyone has experience with thule and Yakima aftermarket options? Are they lower effective profile than oem? I know the snowpack 6 can integrate directly into the channel on Thule wing bar, so not sure if that buys me any clearance as well.

The oem crossbars seems to be quite high from the roofline compared to say the oem’s on my GX.

Thanks.

Looks like you have both a width and a height problem.
I use older square Thule bars that are very wide but they are taller mounting above the rails not in between. I also have the LC rails that are lower.
Sorry can't be more helpful.

I’ve used Yakama round bars for ~13 years now on my 2013 LX (and had the same bars on my g500 and 80, so yes they are ~30 years old). A good thing about the round bars is I can spin the rack down when the skis are not in it to get less wind noise. They work great. And yes I still have my ski rack on as I skied last weekend (Thompson pass). Also my high tech solution for when I have my summer tires on (33’s). I run smaller tires in the winter ~30’s so I can make it in my garage without going to low as I have skis on the roof 7 days a week Nov-May.

And I can mount my Yakima box next to the rack since I’m using wider bars (Large).

If you are wondering why my rails are black, I switched to LC rails 6-7 years ago so I get a longer base for my 16’ canoe.
