I am looking at a 2013 LX570 with 76k miles going for $34,700 and a 2014 with 90k for $33,998. Haven't seen them in person yet but the 2014 looks cleaner with its interior. I prefer the lower mileage in 2013 but wonder if the 15k miles really is a concern. Thoughts?

Check the maintenance records. Lower miles, especially 15k won't mean much if it wasn't maintained as well. Plus check for rust underneath.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a newbie. I entered both VINs in Lexus Owner site and both were maintenance at Lexus. Both have decent records. Both are southern vehicles. 2013 had 2 owners and 2014 had one owner. Thoughts on their price?

I think 99cruiser is giving you great advice: 1. Records, 2. Damage, 3. Undercarriage/Rust.
(In no particular order)

If all other things are equal (ie no interior/exterior color preference), I’d go with the one that has best tires/brakes/hydraulic fluid changes (think AHC, gear boxes, diffs).
If things are still equal beyond that I would personally go for the 2014. 15k miles would make no difference to me whatsoever. I’d rather have the slightly newer car (keep in mind that, IIRC, there will prob only be a 6 month production diffence between them as 2013’s were usually built “late” and the 2014’s were built early.)

Thank you. I appreciate the tips.

For me, ONE owner is always better than 2 owners....if everything else being equal.

I checked out the one owner (2014) car yesterday and will have to pass. There were normal wear and tear but the biggest concern was during startup. The car had a rattle with a ton of white smoke. It made me believe the car has been sitting for some time and lost oil pressure. The search continues...

This one is at a dealer I trust and know. He is a former Toyota GM and buys most of his Lexus inventory from owners who are buying a new Lexus across the street. Generally offers more than Lexus is willing to pay on trade. Buying used Lexus from a non-lexus dealer can be a gamble. Just be careful and inspect EVERYTHING.

Just an example of a good one. I'm sure you can find something closer.

Ooh, i like that one (I am biased though. It looks EXACTLY like my 2015!)

That one looks super clean if the photos are accurate. Here’s the one I’m also looking at but it’s about 2.5 hours away.

That one looks great on paper! I download the service records for you (attached). AHC was done at 64K and all the other service for that matter. Also looks like there was some body damage at 36K. Could have been a scratch or something more serious...no way to tell. You could probably call the Greenville Lexus and get a more complete picture. My first question would be how it ended up at a Toyota dealership in Anderson. It could have been a trade there.

I pulled the same records and emailed (with screenshots) the salesman asking the same thing about the body damage items. He said he never noticed but would walk around again to see. It’s been a couple days since he said that so I’m still waiting on his reply.

Also - It's been a coastal car it's entire life. Do a thorough rust check. Luckily, most of these live in garages and the salt air is not a big issue.
