Alright MR genius sage...
Check out the last sentence in post number 6 :flipoff2:

I believe it goes something like this.

98 LC has no rear AC
99 LC has optional rear AC
00+ LC's have standard rear AC

I'm not sure which LX's received the rear AC.

Std. on all years for LX I believe.

I would have to agree that they are essentially the same. The differences are minor with the interior and the only major change in models would be the suspension. I would suggest you drive both and then compare.
Looking at the prices I have noticed that for the same year and model there are more choices in the LX than there are for the LC. Search on ebay and you'll know what I am referring to. Lots of choices in the 25K range for the lx470 where as limited number of LC's being sold for the same price.
It's like the toyota models tends to hold their value where as a lexus depreciates more comparitively. so my suggestion is to get an LX which you will spend the same money for but get more options and also get the lexus service. The parts are the same essentially so if you're worried about maintenance or replacement parts, you can buy them from toyota instead of lexus if they're the same ones.
either way you can't go wrong. best of luck !

That because the Lexus 470 outsells the LC 2-to-1. To me it makes sense to shop for both thinking of the LX as a LC with a high trim level and a few extras that you may or may not feel are worth a little extra.

Both trucks are great and like brothers. The LX just has a better suspension for all around driving and an automatic lift kit. I like the convenience of adding a 3 inch lift at the push of a button. If you are not doing much offroading, it's no big deal and expensive to replace. The Old Man EMU lift kits for the LC is awesome. The LX has a better stereo, leather, wood, and dealer service. There are folks that can recharge the hydrolics for MUCH less than just replacing them.

I have an ARB bumper and 12K winch on my LX. I have oversized BFG's to boot. I pulled out a huge F350 out of a nasty ravine on the way to the ski slope one morning. He was trying to go ice fishing. Turned off over a snow bank from a recently plowed road and high centered on ice. Those quad cabs must be 30' long and weigh 8000lbs. I was on my way to skiing with my family, and I thought this would ge a good way to show my kids what is more important. "Being ten minutes late for the first run, or make someones day be much brighter and carefree. We winched him out with effort. He had body damage on both sides of his truck going in and coming out. I told him this, but his little shovel and cold desert friends said, " It's just paint and he's insured!" This put immense strain on the front end of my truck. Heard a ticking sound the next day and the differential blew. Lexus replaced it under warranty. It happened again doing some mild spring mud-snow travels. Only used the winch once to get around a deep snow bend in the shade. Diff started making sounds. The truck was flatbedded from my property in Greer, AZ to Tucson,AZ. They replaced the whole diff and axle assemply with the upgraded assembly from the 04 model. Paid the $800 towing bill and extended the warranty for an extra year. They only questioned my procedures when winching and covered everything under warranty. They said their trucks are built for guys like me and soccer moms, and should perform equally well at both.

Their service alone to an offroader shows their committment to the offroad guys willing to take their 50+K trucks out and use them as disinged for us. The service rep said this will help their dengineers build better products based on customer issues. My old Landcruiser toyota dealer (80 series with locking diffs)dealer would NEVER do this for me.

I'm biased from the excellent service from my Lexus dealer, but feel you can't go wrong with either. My favorite truck ever was my 1996 LC with locking diffs. That thing would go anywhere and the rep told me that those differentials were twice as strong as the new stuff.

Have fun.

George, that is some AWESOME customer service!! That is definitely the way to get return clientele.

When I purchased my LX 450 it was a certified pre-owned vehicle. They covered everything bumper to bumper that was not a wear item (brakes pads and rotors) or chromed (the antenna) -- every other mechanical piece was covered.

I had it in for several things and the level of service that 5151broadway described doesn't surprise me a bit. When it comes down to service, Lexus beats Toyota, hands down.

LC vs LX vs GX

Having a 04 GX (hey its a LC everywhere else - kinda), and 99 LC and a 05 LX, I'd reccomend them in that order. The LC Ive owned since new and its held up very well (about 70k). Has the rear air, seats, locker, etc.

Not that the LX wont, but Im not particularly fond of the all the bells and whistles. I dont find myself missing the Nav or the sound system in the LC, the duel zone climate, the 18 inch rims make no difference in the ride, the screens nice to keep the kids enthralled tho. The LX seats are hard and dont fit as well as either. Otherwise I think you're better off buying a good clean LC, with as few miles as your budget allows. In any case, make sure the services have been done.

Dont think it will fit the cost, but the GX is by far my preference. Rides better, more nimble, much more lively, prefer the ergonomics - just an excellent package. No idea if you could score a base (hell they have everything base) 03 GX for near $25k - maybe $30 - but I think thats the way to go. Get yourself some Euro nameplates and you'd be set.

OH BTW the wife Drives the Lexi so, yea, the panty thing is true

betwen the LC and the LX, did you find any differences in the driver's seat ?
i know the lx seats are softer which does not necessarily mean more comfortable. how about interms of the base padding and back padding etc. are they the same exact seats ?

Hey Lexs I'll post in your Seat thread

I'll comment on a couple of things mentioned previous:

Repairs on the LC (70k)- Been through a set of brakes F/R (rear first oddly enough), 1 Set of OEM Michelins, heat shield had to be R/R due to rattle. Otherwise just Toyota schedule and a few warranty things early.

I have an excellent Toyota shop nearby - they have exceeded my expectations nearly every visit. I just took the GX to Lexus for a rear door latch TSB and absolutely the sales and service experience are much more upscale. Hell the service dept isnt even on premises - like that would sully the image. Both have been extremely knowledgeable and thorough in the one catagory most important - fixing it right, quickly and efficiently. Really depends on the local franchise (I've had some poor exp w/ both brands at other dealerships). The Toyota store doesnt have

Lexus does get the cream tho - the guy who won every technician event he played was a Toyota franchise employee. After he won a few in a row, they brought him over to TMS at inception to be some kind of Lexus corp troubleshooter. As some have pointed out, Lexus get perks. But this is no different than a couple high end dealerships Ive been to (White Allen Porsche/Jag/Audi dealer in Dayton is great) Lexus franchises have different, high end competition and they respond. Always amused at the spread (soft drink, mochachino, juices, bottled water) Lexus provides when I can barely find the pop machine at Toyota. So If experience is important, Lexus has the edge - but to some extent direct comparisons are unfair.
