LX 570 Tailgate Storage

I have a new to me 2011 LX 570. I was happy to see they made use of the space in the tailgate. I'm a little disappointed that their use seems so inefficient. Has anyone taken the organizer out of the tailgate?

How did you do it? I've taken out the two bolts but its not coming out. It could be plastic clamps that could pop back in but...

If you've done it, was the gain in space worth it?

Just pop it out after you remove those 2 bolts. Switch out the reverse lights to LEDs while you're in there. The land cruiser doesn't have lights there, so they may have a bit more storage room... look up @TRAIL TAILOR 's rear storage, but I'm not sure if it would work with an LX (because of the lights)

I don't have a LX, I have a LC, so this may not be accurate for you, but on the LC there is a fair amount of internal metal structure that needs to be cut and removed to install the Trail Tailor storage box. It adds some nice storage space, but it isn't as simple as removing the stock one and popping the new TT one in.
