I'm looking at new shackles and bushings as well as new shocks. Mine are totally shot. I figure my springs are a bit flatter than when new, and the worn out shocks have those add-on coils that attach with muffler clamps. Pretty hokey. I'm not a big fan of the lifted look and I don't take this rig wheeling. Also, I sort of like the cushiony ride I get with the stock springs and don't want to spend money on springs. I figure that a shackle that's 1 1/2 longer than stock will raise me 3/4"... Is that correct? So I guess I have 3 separate questions:

What shackles should I get?
What shocks should I get? (is there some plain old munroes or something from napa that matches up?)
What is stock height I'd be shooting for? (measured from where?)

Enclosing a few pics so you can see current height, and to show off my flat horizon blue paint job I created from 3 rustoleum colors. Also, note that the receiver hitch tacked to the rear bumper was temporary and I did it up right before towing with it !

Are you trying to level out the truck? Take some measurements and make your own shackles. Sounds like it will spend its time mostly on road, find some cheapy shocks and call it a day. I like the flat look of the paint, nice job!

Thanks. Just think it may sit lower than stock. Maybe I'm used to seeing most of them with a little lift. Anyone know a shock # front and rear for a regular manufacturer. Most of the cruiser places sell the expensive extreme duty types, and the regular parts stores don't list the 45s...

It's likely you can get stock shocks from Toyota. I got mine from CDan. Don't have the PNs, anymore, but I'll bet he can dig them up. I'm still running the original springs.

The "horizontal" blue is sweet. Someday mine will go back to that.

SOR sells "stock length" shackles for the FJ45.

I just wondered if I remove the coil overloads and with all the years on the stock springs it may be too low with stock shackles. Maybe I'll just get the 1 1/2" longer and worst case scenario is i get 3/4" lift over stock. Most likely it has sagged that much anyways. Thanks

Hi,
I like these monroe shocks, smoother ride than OEM Toyota shocks
Number for all models are the same.

if ya find a nice older 11-13ft Whaler let me know......kinda want one(and have since I was a kid watching Fliper)

Picked up some shocks at napa this morning. . Rears from fj 55 listing and fronts from fj 40. Less than 15 bucks apiece. Now after work I can see if they'll fit. Greenspan, are you saying that the front and rear are the same and work with all 40/45? and Landpimp, I couldn't see the info you enclosed. My computer doesn't show about 1/3 of photos and other info. hmmmm, maybe my kids have a block on it.... :D And I'll be on the lookout for a whaler. yeah, Bud and Sandy rocked in theirs! Now to figure out the shackles.

I don't know if this helps you, but Bull just posted up a schematic drawing of a 45 pickup that looks to have all the dimensional measurements you might need.
I don't know how to cross post anything, but it's on a thread here in the 45 owners section.

Hope this helps !
