Does anyone have a 8" third with 4.10 gears that they are planning on re-gearing? I am almost done collecting parts for rebuilding my front axle, but the third i have has 3.90 gears in it. so i would like to trade mine for one in run-able condition with 4.10 gears to match my rear.

I'm regearing mine and I have an 8" up front with 4.10 gears in it. I think the 80's have reverse cut gears in the front, but I'm a dumbass when it comes to gears. Anyway if they are compatible you can have them when I take them out.

you are reusing your housings, correct? the reverse cut gear(from a HI-pinion diff) will only work in the HI-pinion diff. so i would also need your housing.

I have one covered in grease that should be 4.10 from an 85 efi truck. I can text you when I get home.
ok sounds good

I can't believe that the rig finally moved on. From what I remember, it was pretty far gone from sitting out in the rain for all those years. Also needed a new fuel cell. Wow.

Im on that thanks Larry

I still know of a troopy w/ less rust! :flipoff2:

(ok, so I'm persistent)

Me either bud I felt sorry for the rig and lady but there was no lack of effort to help her on our part. Dropped off our card twice and stopped other times even sent them emails with links on where to get the parts they said they couldn't find. I don't think the tranny shop ever told her our offer to help  Needless to say I'd never send anyone to do business there. I think they intended to try and hold on to vehicle so long they'd want to steal it for the storage fee :meh:

Just a feeler. Anyone interested in my dodge? Getting tired of paying a note on a truck I only drive to events. Thinking about selling pretty much everything except for the 4runner and buying a more comfortable econobox (looking hard at the new Fiestas and the cruze eco) and an older dodge with the 12 valve. after the trip to tenn I will start shopping harder and see what I could get for the truck on trade. Probably would not get a whole hell of a lot for it on trade would be thrilled just to get what I owe I am thinking.

But anyway, if anyone is interested in the truck could do it like a courtesy trade when I get the econobox.

thats the plan as of now.

trail gear is having a sale on front spring hangers, $28. just in case anyone needs one.

has anyone actually seen this thing in person lately? dad sounded a tiny bit interested but wondering how much rust is on it.

I have spoken to the lady and LArry went by this am to give her a deposit for me but she I feel is avoiding me. So I do believe it is sold. I told her I wanted it and would be dropping a deposit. I guess she sold it out from under me. Got to love honest people.

I didn't know any of this and sent her an e-mail last night letting her know I was interested. I got no response. This morning I sent her another e-mail. She replied to that one saying it was sold. Maybe she's just hard to get in touch with. Her telling me it was sold could mean that it's yours. At least I hope so.

Well Im happy to say she did hold it for me and I will be picking it up in the am. She is having some real issues with letting it go. She wants to keep it and her husband says get rid of it. I thought for sure she sold it last night and was dodging my calls. In this situation I was happy to be proved wrong.

We can all understand where they're coming from and in one way I wish they would have kept it so we could help them get it back on the road. The other way is I'm glad it worked out for you. The damn tranny shop said her husband passed away  the sad thing is if we could have gotten in touch with them years ago we could have help them save it and maybe got some new members in the process :meh:

Thats a great deal for someone to swap out axles on an open or stock rig and start wheeling :) not to mention selling the old units to recoop some of their coin ;)
