I thought some of you might be interested in one of these generators for camping. As a Generac Dealer these are new to us but are designed to compete against yamaha and Honda. Honestly I think these are a great bang for the buck, but if you want the honda buy the honda. But the honda is 3 times the amount.

Forum Price $565.00 taxes included
If I can order 4 or more at one time it will be free freight!

Spec sheet
Generac Power Systems - IX2000
D, I just talked with Guy, order us both one---Thanks--You Take AMEX?

whats the weight?

Generac says 50 lb

just weighed mine on my a/c charge scale full oil /fuel Honda 36lb

what is the noise level looked didn`t find any actual readings
fire one up put a load on it & C

can attest to Honda being quiet a noisy gen can get quite annoying after a couple hours twas the main reason why I went with the Honda bought it last summer $999.

I can try and find the db rating but I will say it is comparable to Hondas. Then again with no power noise can sound nice. But seriously I will look into it.

how bout ya doing your own side by side test am sure someone ya know has a Honda 2000 if not can borrow mine:)

put em side by side & have em run the same a/c or what ever and use the human ear or a DB meter to C if there is any significant noise difference .

personally would have preferred spending less but the noise to me & my camping neighbors was a prime reason for my purchase .
after a day on the trail :steer: the last thing I wanted to hear was the drone of a noisy genset

so let the test begin :bounce::bounce2: too late for me but do hope the generac is noise comparable:cheers:

Here is Generac response to me. This is kind of what I figured.:bang:

Generac does not publish decibel ratings on portable generators because there is no industry standard for the measurement and reporting of sound levels, so consumers need to be wary of any printed values regarding sound. Competitive analysis shows Generac sound output to be comparable or less than competitive products of comparable design and output rating.

yup already read that, that is why I suggested a side by side comparison:)

a duel on the gen`s if ya will:lol:

Deryl if you can't find a honda around for comparison, you could bring one of your generacs by when you pick up the pictures. I have lived off of a honda 2000 and a 3000 down south as my only power source for quite some time. I can tell you if they are about the same noise level under a full load or at idle.

i just read on a reviw on amazon , it was 60ish db full load , and paul do u have the eu 2000? ryan has one at it seems heaver than 36 lbs , im gonn go back get that review ,

:eek:did it in the room no light the anti-vibration feet would just touch the scale cage so stood on end 56lb 13.6 oz oil. fuel:o

Paul I thought that 36lb sounded a little lite. No problems! I will be placing the order later this week or early monday. So far i have 4 takers:cool:

my only concern is if we are comparing apples to apples.

too late for me
I`ve already bought mine

quality, fuel consumption, noise reliability are variable.
price is always a factor to haggle & contemplate.
quality is an other.

am one that is always out for the most bang for the buck:bounce::bounce2:
but have learned over the years price alone does not always mean the best deal. that was why I suggested the duel so people can make an informed decision not on price alone:)
so that being said--- hope ya sell a 100 of em and all buyers are as happy with there`s as I am with mine

I completely agree with you 100%. I also buy on quality and not the best price. Quality is key. I sure dont want to have anyone upset on here if it breaks. Hondas are great and the only bad part on these is there is not a long track history to compare it with. I will get one up and running and ty and find a honda to compare it to or even just post up the db rating.
