Take the passenger side door lock out and there will be a code stamped on the side. Take the code to your local lockshop and they will cut you a key by code for about $15

Thanks for the replies.
So I pulled the passenger door lock and then remembered that it was keyed different to the ignition barrel.
Anyway Ive got the ignition barrel out without damaging anything ! So ill take it the lock smith some time this week.
My pig is s 1978 breed

SOR has new ignition barrels, don't think they have door locks

Post up a wanted add

VIN's we didn't get them here in Aus till 1994.
Spoke to my mate at Toyota, he said legally not allowed to look up key codes and cut them anymore.
Went to a local parts wrecker and they wanted $80 for a brand new barrel they had on the shelf, however it was the long type and wasn't going to work.
Went to a local locksmith and they cut a key to suit my barrel for $30, pretty happy with that.
Next mod, remote central locking :)

..and a spare. After locking my keys in the ignition twice in one week I did the magnet-box on the chassis thing. It's still there. Yet to go wheeling yet though.

Keys

Old, forgetful, stressed, and dumb, are my excuses.

Welded little slide box on frame with keys in it, (Secret Spot) painted to match frame - should survive almost anything - has so far -------- Reference dumb above -- includes wheelin stuff - common question - "how the hell did you do that?"

I just leave my keys inside and don't lock it. I do that in my 80 too and I never lock the front door of my house. I guess you can't really do that in places that have a high crime rate.

won't last...btdt

Truth be told it's on top of a bash plate of sorts so at least it has gravity on its side. If I could muster up the motivation I'd move it but fxxx it, I'l just leave it there. I don't doubt it'll be gone by then

i used to do duct tape to the frame, then undercoated to keep it from showing...till i forgot where i taped it on my old gmc. found it four years later when we pulled the powertrain to put in my old 40
