Well, on my way to work the other morning in my 80 and I heard a clunk... Thinking that it ain't that bad since there was no more racket after that, I pulled over to take a look. Pulled into a parking lot and set the brake. Looked underneath and saw my drive shaft spinning happily away:crybaby:, still attached at both ends. My guess is a couple of teeth on the ring and pinion, since the shaft was still attached. I simply locked the front hubs and drove back home with my tail between my legs.

I guess I need to scavange a side bearing from the current third member and install it on the other third that I have which had the side bearing cage spit out of it(probably from Round Up'09. Lord knows how long I drove it without the bearing cage. Never made a noise and didn't find it till I installed the FF in September before the Southern Cruiser Crawl)

We'll see how this works out. Guess I need to step up and get the 60 and 70 hd installed under the 80.

Well get your sorry ass working on that truck sir! :flipoff2:

yaeh........1 ton and cut the hell out of it:bounce:

Well, I tore into the rear diff last night and found the cause of my problems... It was a broken cross pin. It seem that the last peson to work on it did not put enough umph in tightening the cross pin locking bolt. I will have to have a heart to heart with this person and make sure this does not happen again.

I will try not to be to hard on mysef...:whoops::o:rolleyes::o

With that said, does anybody have an extra cross pin and locking bolt?

'Preciate the offer Cam, but I already ordered up some gaskets and a pin from Kurt(Cruiser Outfitters), and he has them on the way. I'll try to remember you for next time.
