Well, on my way to work the other morning in my 80 and I heard a clunk... Thinking that it ain't that bad since there was no more racket after that, I pulled over to take a look. Pulled into a parking lot and set the brake. Looked underneath and saw my drive shaft spinning happily away
, still attached at both ends. My guess is a couple of teeth on the ring and pinion, since the shaft was still attached. I simply locked the front hubs and drove back home with my tail between my legs.
I guess I need to scavange a side bearing from the current third member and install it on the other third that I have which had the side bearing cage spit out of it(probably from Round Up'09. Lord knows how long I drove it without the bearing cage. Never made a noise and didn't find it till I installed the FF in September before the Southern Cruiser Crawl)
We'll see how this works out. Guess I need to step up and get the 60 and 70 hd installed under the 80.
