Anyone a current owner and have any issues with rust on the shutter valve. Should I run from this? Or use as negotiation leverage? The shutter valve had no cover on it.

Gawd, that hurts my eyes just to look at it...
So I’m biased, as I’m West-coast and spoiled by no rust.
However, that looks horrendous.
Fly to Oregon, buy one within a week for a reasonable amount, and drive it (or ship it) back.
You’d recoup your expenses either in resale, or reduced wrenching costs.
AND, from a KDSS owner (2005), it’s nice but it is limiting when the time comes for sliders, skid plates, etc.

ouch, when/if that eats through, it will be money. i havent touched my valve other than lifting my truck. even turning it a few while doing the lift, it didnt do anything for me. Some people never touch the valve and it turned out fine.
