So I don't offend the ranchers out there, that would be "baling wire".

buy a $1500 rusty one and drive it around for a few months. you will become familiar with what to look for in a pristine cruiser.

I agree…Go with the 60….Get one and pimp it out rugged cruiser style.

I bought my 87’ in Florida in 2002, from 2nd owner for $2200, had a couple rust spots near rain gutter, and cracked dash (Florida sun and humidity), and 134k, all original. Used as a DD for a year. Then I put $1200 in paint and (metal replacement) rust bubbles on rain gutter, $1800 in lift and tires.

$2200 cruiser
$1200 paint
$1800 lift and tires

$5200 = bad ass head turning cruiser

3putt, nice 60.
Take it from a FJ62 owner...if you are planning on the remotes of the Baja/Mexico....get a 60!! It's not an 80 or a 62(and I love my 62) but you will get more legendary 3rd world reliabilty out of the 60....an auto tranny, EFI, and ECU do not fall into that category, IMO. (flame away)
Any Cruiser you get you're gonna drop some $$$ post-purchse, might as well be that one for what your doing.

Anyone wanna buy my 62 and sell/trade me an '86/'87 fj60?(seriously)

nice ride 3putt. not to de-rail this thread, but what is the lift on it?

p.s. i also think the 60 over the 80 is the better choice for where you want to go with it.

BDS 2.5 inch with 32's

Paid $950 for BDS 2.5 installed and the wheels (Rock Crawler series 97) and tires (32 Maxis Buckshot Mudders) were around $850.
