Had a weird one today. My 2010 lx570 took me 20 minutes to shift out of 4 low. I tried numerous times. Tried driving up and down my street. Tried turning engine off and on. Tried idling for 10 minutes. Yes I know to put the trans in neutral first then shift to 4 high. I even disconnected the battery. Eventually it shifted to 4 hi but holy cow this is crazy. I confirmed it was actually staying in 4 low by the way it drove on my street. Truck is only new to me last 2 weeks. I really am missing my 100 series which never had anything like that happen (had a good old fashioned LEVER to move to 4 low. Why must so much stuff be automated! Anyone else experience this? I am afraid to ever put it in 4low again.

Yes - happened in cold weather to me (2nd owner) - exercise the hell out of the 4LO and center locker. You just need to get it unstuck. Warm the truck up (20 minutes of driving) then in and out of 4lo. It’ll go away

Just start switching in and out weekly and you’ll be good to go. Can do it in your driveway and just listen for the click

Edit #2 - since it DOES switch I honestly don’t think you need to be worried that it’s anything but a sticky actuator

Ok. I will do as you recommend. I actually went underneath and tapped on the actuator on the back of the transfer case (high height mode makes it easy to get under there lol). I felt like I was going to cry. Haven't even made my 1st payment and I am rapping on parts like I used to have to do to the starter motor on my old camaro! I hope you are right about needing to exercise the parts. Thanks

Had the same issue when I first got my 2008 LC. I had the enjoyment of having the dash light up like a christmas tree as well and wouldn't shift out of 4lo. Then another day it wouldn't switch into 4lo forever. Took it into dealership, everything worked fine for them. I even baselined all the fluids, and assumed it was because the previous owners only used it as a DD not for what its meant. Now I have no issues switching in and out of 4lo

So just shifting in and out of 4 low once every couple weeks fixes it? I am afraid to try as I don't want it to get stuck for good

I’d do it weekly. Mine was stuck and I just had to get it completely warmed up and it’s been good ever since.
