I know it is real early but a friend of mine told me there is a trail that runs off 395 out of either Lone Pine or Bishop that gets into Mammoth:grinpimp:.

Info needed, please?
I would like to make it a three -four day trip?
After the snow melts, Spring?
Any interest?

don't know that one, but I would like to find one that goes all the way across the Sierras at around that latitude (not at Rubicon level though :D)

ive been wanting to see this area. if you post the dates 2+ months ahead i can make sure to be off from work to do this. we turn in our work schedule 2 months before.

sounds nice, as long as I don't miss Cruise Moab :D

Lots of good trails in the vicinity but most after LP except Cerro Gordo which is before.

I don’t recall ones that connect all the way to Mammoth from LP. Maybe Bishop, lot of alpine like trails: (Wheeler Ridge, Sand Cy, etc) and some 10k+ stuff, fishing and what not. Best after the snow melt I would say late May or early june.

Don't know of a Lone Pine to Mammoth trail, but I do know of a Lone Pine to Bishop trail, via Coyote Flats. Contact David Wright over at 4wdtrips.net. He lives in Lone Pine and can get you the information that you're looking for.

There is also numerous books on trails in the Eastern Sierra.

I was thinking early June. Thanks for the help.

This may sound silly, but why don't you ask your friend what trail he's talking about?

My friend is an old timer with little memory left. Some day we will be like him remembering the sweet time camping and off-roading, and little else.
