Just did the timing belt on my new (to me) 95K mile GX470. It has the same 4.7 liter that's in the Tundra, V-8 4Runner, Sequoia, and 100 series.
Anyway, I bought the Schley 64300 tool that fits the crank pulley on these engines. With the tool and a couple breaker bars, removing/tightening the crank bolt was ridiculously easy. It was $65 well spent. (I don't have an impact and the starter on this truck has the deal where it automatically engages until the engine starts, so I didn't want to mess around with the starter bump method.)
The tool supposedly works with -
Lexus 1990 and later: 3.0 L6, 3.0 V6, 3.3 V6, 4.0 V8, 4.3 V8, 4.7 V8.
Toyota 1996 and later: 3.0 V6, 3.3 V6, 4.0 V6, 4.7 V8. also 4 cyl: 1983-1995 22RE, 1995-2004 2RZ & 1995-2004 3RZ.
If anyone wants to borrow the tool, just PM me. I'm happy to let someone else use it.
BTW, there's a ton of info on the net for changing the 4.7L timing belt. It's not terribly difficult but does take a long time.
