LJ78 intake

Hello all,

I wanted to see if anyone on here could tell me the function of the hose (circled) that is part of the factory intake on my 92 LJ78. I am looking at putting together more of a cold air set up but have not figured out why there is this line on the intake. I'm not interested in a snorkel, as it has been recommended, but something better than stock with low exterior visibility. Thanks for any input!

AFAIK it's there to reduce turbo compressor noise. I took mine off and put the little cap right into the main hose held by the hose clamp there. Never looked back. I like turbo noise.

I've thought lots about installing a cone filter with some form of cold air intake. But eventually I came to the conclusion that the oem setup is really not that bad. It does grab cool air from in the fender (compared to the engine bay air). The only issue I see is the air is on the dusty side. But grabbing air anywhere else close by will be no better. To be honest, a snorkel is the best bet for colder cleaner air.

I never bought a snorkel. That was just a suggestion.
