You should service the front axle of the 80 series every 60k miles. Some will recommend stretching this to 90-100k miles though once you've done the job yourself you probably won't wait much longer than 60k miles on the next one. A dealer will charge about $1,200 but since the majority of the cost is labor and the job is not technically difficult, we recommend that you do the job yourself in most cases. As you will see from the above reading, it is a time consuming service.
You will probably need a FSM (factory service manual) and a source for buying the parts at at discount. Here (insert link to big dummy C-Dan) is the place for the FSM and parts.
