I have some serious rust issues with my 98LC liftgate, I purchased a 2001 (I believe '01, could be '02) as a replacement but it appears that the wiring harness is vastly different. I was under the impression that they were a simple swap, same size, same internals.
The 98 has 10 pin (8 used) and 3 pin (3 used) connecters just under the hinge inside the cabin, the replacement has 10 pin (8 used) and 5 pin (5 used) with a long pig tail that appears to have been connected somewhere down in the D pillar. I am looking for a little insight as how best to proceed. At this point I am tempted to take all the electrical from the 98 hatch and put them in the new one, but that appears to be quite a bit of work, and I am not sure if it will all swap over.
I am in the middle of the job now, trying to take advantage of the relatively warm weather today. I will post some pictures when I get a chance.
Thanks for the help,
Robert
***EDIT*** Glad I kept going, the 3 pin connector in the cab becomes a 5 pin inside the liftgate. To swap over liftgates between the model years I have I need to keep the harness inside the cab and unplug it within the liftgate.
