Lift install cost, sanity check

Recently picked up a 200 series and planning out the mods and cadence. Getting new tires done this coming weekend (275/70/18 KO2s), and the next move will likely be a lift - toss up between the OME or Ironman Foam Cell (BP51 or Kings would be awesome but I don't feel my planned use would warrant those setups).

Reached out to a local shop and was quoted $1200 for the lift install + $200 alignment. From searching across various threads on here, it does seem a couple of hundred above most... Am I missing something? Looks most get this type of job done around the $800 range, curious on what I'm not accounting that could be attributing to this gap?

edit - realized I didn’t quite answer your question. Nothing, that is stupid expensive for what is an easy job. Check your KDSS valves before you go down that road.
 
Depends on the shop you talked to.. I paid the same price you stated ($1,400 with allignment) had another shop quote me $900 for lift, but I paid the extra for the shop I knew.

What is your labor rate?
How many hours is the job that they are charging you for?
 
I am in Atlanta. Have you tried peter merriam at merriam automotive or Greer automotive?

Neither labor rate nor hours quoted, just total labor for the job.
 
Was the $1400 quote from ACC?

I’d expect a good shop that’s done one before to be able to get it done in ~6-8 hours including the alignment. It’s not that hard, but a shop that’s unfamiliar with these trucks might charge more to cover the unknown.

Any mechanic with a lift and strut compressor can do it, but I wouldn’t trade that for a few hundred bucks. ACC is the best shop around and their cost will reflect that, rightfully so. If it’s not ACC, it’s probably too much. The front install will be higher for non-coilover systems because of the disassembly and setup.
