Lift Gate Lock Rod Clip???

I think I got it with 69293-22020. Wasn’t easy. Shaved a little off, tried to get it in. Shaved a little more off, tried again. I had to pull the metal towards me with needle nose pliers and push the rod/clip in with a flat head. Finally heard it snap into place. Time will tell if it holds up.

And if you drop the clip down into the tailgate while trying this method, you’re probably not getting it back.

You need to work smarter. If you are worried about losing the clip, you stuff a rag or towel into the cavity to keep that from happening.

That’s a good idea. What do you use to press the clip in? My fingers can’t reach in there.

Never have touched that specific clip but other similar clips used in the doors, I've never had an issue with inserting the clips by hand without the rod.

The Amazon yellow clip work great for me - thanks for posting this fix.
No mods needed - no shaving of anything - 10 min job total.
