Out of the hundreds of grilles sold - there is exactly one person that has even mentioned this hood latch issue. I personally don’t have it, none of the test fitters had it and from your own reports, you don't have it:
I can attest to the hood latch issue. It initially worked properly but now I have to pull Down the entire mechanism to get the latch to clear. One of the raptors lights has water in it. But to be fair I got shipped 4 lights so yay? The absolute worst offense was one of the slots that to mount the screw in wasn't formed properly and I had to remove material with a drill! This is fine on a $30 car model kit, an absolute deal breaker at $300. Everything feels cheap and not even remotely worth $300. Maybe buy some oem screws yourself and include it for that price? Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND. Feels like a $100 Aliexpress car part (you can buy the same raptor lights) marked up 3x.

Uh, yeah, it ain't "exactly one person" who has this latch issue. Not by a fu*king longshot. I am one of the initial orderers and I too had the latch issue, the ridiculous poorly-fitting bolts, the WTF weatherstripping. All of these issues were discussed at length here and in the FB GXOR Group. This was a huge problem, the latch issue, and many of us complained about it. I just this weekend replaced the center badge with a server grille that actually engages the channels above and below the opening, and it seems to have bolstered that weak-ass molding so I no longer have to reach under the partially opened hoot and manually pull down on the latch rod to open the hood.

A shame on some bad results. My 3rd production run grille has not had issues. Looks very good and secured well (using stock hardware). No latch issues.
I agree it may be on the fragile side. But if you take care with the install and don't hit any birds lol, or run into branches, its is a nice modern upgrade. YMMV
Six months plus and doing fine.

I bought mine in May 2022 so definitely not a 1st run.

Mine has been ok, I had to buy new hardware from Lexus and the plastic where it attaches is fragile. Hood opens and closes just fine. I did the server faceplate mod and it’s held up through a full winter. I like how it looks but wouldn’t buy again unless it was around $100.

The spindle-style grill is around the same price and (IMO) fits the Lexus style a bit better. No issues with mine so far. Definitely a bit harder to get, however.

It definitely looks sturdier and I love your gx build but that grille just doesn’t appeal to me. It’s not hideous like the new gx460 grille but I prefer a more linear mug I suppose.

GX grilles are certainly a personal preference :). I'm personally not a fan of the more angular TRD-style grille on a GX, although they look great on Tundras and Tacomas. My OEM grille was shot after 15 years - and was overall kind of weak looking anyway, even with a Plasti-Dip coat.

I got in on the first batch of grilles and didn't have any fitment or quality issues. But I also spent the time to paint and clear coat it before installing, and didn't get the amber lights. I'm not a huge fan of the TRD grille on stockish trucks, but I do think they fit the overall style on more heavily modified ones.

Hey, just curious how you went about doing the faceplate mod on that? I have this grill on my LX470 and I'd like to see it with the Lexus "L" logo rather then the text. Was thinking of doing something similar to yours but with the L rather than the teq.

All you need is a server faceplate, your logo and a way to stick logo on. I think I used 3m double sided tape but not sure. The faceplate fits easily, I didn’t even have to trim. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MOEOHEU?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
