So I was putting in a new seal in the rear pass side axel, and why not tear apart the front while its nice out and Im allready getting grubby, so I get the wheels off, truck all supported, take my time, get it right, dont want to have to do it again soon, wtf might as well put on new brakes while its all apart, greese the bearings, change the diff fluid right?
sounds like no big deal, since im down one outer shaft on the short side I might as well take off the drive shaft , after all those U joints look pretty old.... Sure why not...hmmm, he thinks, this would be easier with the T case in neutral to let things turn and get at the other side of front shafts bolts.... ok, time to put it all back together minus the front Drive shaft and go for some U joints, Yup , brakes on, bolted down, greese where it needs to be, tires on tight, OH better make sure its in PARK, yup...... give those 4x4's a kick, OH SHART~ I put the T case in neutral, not the transmission, Sure as hell that 80series diesel rolls over my foot and stops right on top:censor::eek::doh:, Ever try to push a 80 series either further over your foot or UP a driveway? me neither until now, Tore alot of (STUFF) in my neck and have some hair line cracks in some foot bones, crushed the tendons running along the top of the foot:whoops:, and the truck still doesnt have new u joints or the new birf...So im laid up for a few days, cant look left, and spent some time in emerg.
SO learn my stupidity , never rush to finish a project and well, just dont do what I did.

No I dont have picts, and I tried to get my xrays, but they said no. that would have been wild to post.
:meh:

it's moments like this that I always drag out my favourite " old dude on the docks" quote......

Life is hard when yer stupid...:flipoff2:

seriously tho, that sucks...bet it was funny to watch tho..:flipoff2:

I once had a shackle hanger come loose and slam the truck down on my hand...8 am, no one around, me stuck with a busted hand jammed inbetween the shackle and the frame( for a little extra zest the spring snapped upwards as the truck came down...)

managed to hook a rake over with my foot and used it to pry the truck off my somewhat mangled hand...

good thing I'm a masochist, or I might look back on that as a bad experience.....

so yep. been there.

Since having a baby I get to work on my truck during his nap times when wifey is at work and evenings after everyone is gone to bed so I try to be very consious of what I am doing and keep a cell in my pocket. It would not be good to be crushed under a truck with a baby sleeping up stairs...
