Could be Andrew Thermer's guessing from the bumper but I hope not, he has a nice truck.

Old Clayburn road in Abby this morning was a sheet of ice, had to tip-toe through a multi-car pileup taking my kids to school. Even the Subi's traction control kicked in at one point as I was demonstrating a power slide to my kids delight. JK, I'm a responsible Dad, really I am.

"Certainly the numbers are high, and people have to take the speed out if they want to get to their destination without any dings and dents in their cars," said Abbotsford Const. Ian MacDonald.

I hate it when police, media or ICBC make this stupid off-the-cuff statement. When it is so icy that you can't stand on it, the only thing that speed determines is how bad of a crash it will be. To say otherwise is more BS without any thought to simple momentum and gravitational forces. The fix is simple - studded tires or more of that vehicle dissolving liquid salt. For a while there, they were putting it down almost every day. It was getting so bad around Abbotsford with that liquid salt that vehicles would create dust clouds of fine salt.

Wasn't Andrew's truck....

In Kelowna here they use coarse sand and little brine that I can see - the reason I was told is the salt creates a toxic runoff into the water courses and lake. The downside with sand is when there is a temporary thaw -vehicles become very dirty and there is a big cleanup in the spring with piles of dirty sand along the road ways. Municipalities would probably not use sand unless they had to here since the brine has no cleanup saving city expense.

Yeah well it covers up just how slow his POS really is. It is Datslow. This is the guy who, in the parking lot outside a Land Cruiser club meeting, loudly extolled the 'superiority' of his PooTroll over the 80 series. The irony of the fact that he was sitting in his Camry at the time because his truck was not driveable for some reason didn't seem to slow him down at all. In fact- has anyone seen one of his square cut xxxx'x on the road in , say, the last year? Datsunbelievable!

you kids are so harsh. i have always enjoyed johns stories regarding his tires on various boards for the last five years or so. :D

edit. lets see if miss america will give us his expert view.

Sorry Phil you are correct. I was insensitive. I have edited my post because I have been unable to think of anything nice to say about John's Datsuns. The use of the word xxxx'x in describing the aforementioned Datsun is in fact offensive to xxxx'x everywhere. However I have been unable to come up with a suitable descriptor starting with Datsun. I hope Datsunderstandible?

Hey guys, how did this thread morph from a traffic accident over to a pretty insensitive put-down of another CC member? Sailor, I see your apology above, however it disturbs me to see that kind of personal slag online in our club. I know that some members are fed up with some of the hijack bull**** stupid talk that seems to pervade some of these threads these days. I contacted one member to ask him why he doesn't participate any more and his response was that the level of postings really does not reflect 30-40 year old adults; it's more like the 15 year adolescents on Facebook. I have to agree with him at times and must remind you that we have a pretty good club here for the most part. I have been a member in all kinds of clubs and groups over my lifetime and I can say unequivocally that the Coastal Cruisers is one of the best, that's why I'm still here after 15 years, and Gary T is still here after 22 years. So, in the future I would ask you to show a little more consideration and sensitivity to other members, even if you do not agree with their postings. Thanks,
~Bill

Hijacking? Speaking from experience bill? That Christmas party posts 50x over got old... Really fast.

Bill I love ya, but it's a free society and we are here to have fun. I did not join the 'stick in the mud car club' here. If I am too inflammatory or don't contribute adequately, simply get a majority of members at a meeting to vote me out. I won't put up a fuss.

a wise man once told me not to let the douchebags bug you. Graham you are always welcome in my club. :D

on another note, it appears that its a pattern with Bill to jump into conclusions without seeing everything. funny part is he'll look like deer caught in headlights if you question him.:bang:

bill you may very well be in a good club but there is always room for improvement. ;)

Well, I have to admit those ads were somewhat over the top alright. However, they weren't put-downs. Also, it pays to advertise and we got the best turnout yet for the Christmas party. Anyway, I'll tone down the Xmas party ads next time.
Now that I think about it, those ads were kind of a protest at the time to all the other crap put on line last year. If I get enough feedback re my monthly meeting ads being objectionable, then I'd stop those as well. I was thinking that many members enjoyed my monthly meeting ads. I spend time and creativity concocting them. :hhmm:

Sailor, we all luv ya too, and furthermore, we are not a "stick in the mud club", although some have been stuck in the mud at times. Put-downs are a low form of humour. I can't recall ever voting anybody out before and we're not going to start now.

actualy i very much enjoyed your posts even though i had no intention to attend the party. it showed your enthusiasm and the fact that you were out of your way to get everyones attentions. its not like the auto adds that the site puts between the posts. everytime i saw one of them, i smiled and moved on. no big deal.

I was making fun of johns damn Datsun not the man himself. I actually quite like Datsuns. If he would get it out and let us see it in action it would be great. Maybe one of us could head over to his place with some jumper cables, a voodoo doll and a bible and it would happen...
