Guys, as you know, you are all invited to my wedding on 15Nov in Louisville, MS- I happened to be up there last wknd and met the guy I keep talking about that has all the cruisers. I will let him introduce himself on the Board (he should post up soon) but he has quite a collection- something like 5 40's, a beautiful 55 (if you can call one that) and something else. Nice family- he also has triplets- all in high school. I think they do some wheeling up in the carolinas, iirc. Maybe a cruiser roundup is in order at my reception, which will be at Carrie's parents' casa.

Oh- quick note- I took my 60 to have a slow leak in a tire repaired and I asked about putting 31's or dirty-three's on it- whether they'd fit with my sag. The owner said that I'd lose 6 mpg. I told him that would mean that I'd get less than a mpg! Would I lose this much with larger rubber? Chris?

Cheerio~

He probably meant you'd loose about 25% of your mpg, in today's world that's about 6mpg! But not in our little cruiser niche of the world! i get 8 mpg

It'll only affect you pulling away from a stop. It will be like having a five speed with no first gear. ( but not quite as bad as starting in 2nd ). It'll ride nice on the interstate.

6mpg? No I don't think so esp. if you go with a AT. maybe 2mpg.

At highway speed a larger tire reduces your RPM. Some call it rubber overdrive. I have seen little to no change in MPG in my truck changing from 31's up to 315's (34.5) and everything in between.

BTW, why don't you buy yourself a lift as a wedding gift. Come to Jackson for the weekend and we will put it on for you. Then you can legitimately go to 33's without rubbing a hole in your wheel wells.

A lot of that loss is due to your odometer not correcting for the larger foot print. If you go six or eight inches further everytime your tires make one revolution, it adds up over a tank of gas. I went from 31s to 33s on my pick up. MPG dropped 3 or 4 mpgs. When I corrected for tire size with my programmer, the loss if any was no longer noticed.

I'm married to a math teacher. I guess it's osmosis or something. She is transfering some of that knowlege while we sleep.

Hey Chris,

Don't give him any praise. He's hard to work with when he thinks he's smart!

Later,

This all makes cents!

If I bought a lift could we do the front one weekend and the back the next? No "that's what she said" jokes, Jeff! LOL.

I like the way you think Cam!

We can lift your truck in about 6 hours at my house. If we could find a time that chris would let us use a lift it would take more like 4 hours. Thats 2-3 folks focused on getting the lift kit installed.

Lets look at the calendar and pick a weekend! We haven't had a good lift install part in toooo long!
