i think you're referring to the toyota L/C prado, as sold in australia? is this correct?

Yep. The 120 series Prado is sold in various overseas markets.

If there really is a $10k difference, buy the GX (or even cheaper yet a nice new 4-runner) and spend the leftover $10k on a 80 series LC to fullfill your offroading dreams.

EDIT: Look at the GX from behind - does it look funny to anyone else?

The GX looks funny from the rear. I think the 4th generation 4runner is better looking than the GX470, but I also think the 80 series is way better looking then the 100 series. Man I wish they still sold the 80 series as a new vehicle. Only problem is with the gas mileage. The new 4runner gets 18 mpg combined and I could only get 14 out of my FZJ80 :( my 80 weighed around 4700 and my 4runner weighs 4600. Must be the V8?

I agree. From the back, the roof looks too tall and skinny. The 4Runner Limited is much better looking however the SR5 looks cheap.

The Sport in Silver is the one that looks good :) Wheels look way better. The SR5 and limited run the same wheels, weird.

Why not buy her a Sienna and spend the rest of the money on a locked 80? :D
