KZJ78 Overdrive indicator flashing

Hi,

I have a KZJ78 LC Prado with 1KZ-TE engine. The problem comes when after running a few hundred meters the over drive indicator lamp starts to blink even it is supposedly to be off when overdrive is turned "ON". When I switch off the O/D the indicator lamp stays lit which is normal.

The ATF level is in normal volume as I checked.

Pls help me on this

Hi i had a similar problem and found that my speedo spender was faulty. Replaced it and all was fine

You mean the speed sensor?

Yes. If your gearbox is not registering a speed then the o/d light will flash as a warning

Thanks for idea Firdosh. we finally fixed it. It was a devalued resistor inthe ECT ECU that caused it to blink.

Hi Any one in the know I have KZJ78 prado running gear and loom in a FJ40 body Im seeing the same flashing on the OD indicator , I have various FJ40 cluster and a phantom attometer cluster , should I have removed anything from the original speedometer cluster to prevent the flashing or is the sender likely faulty at the transfer case?

my old j78 did the same thing when i disconnected the speedo cable
