Hi all! Sean and I are taking advantage of days off together and heading out to Kofa this weekend. Anyone been? Anyone want to go?

We went a couple months ago. Really neat area. Would love to go again, but can't go this weekend.

I posted some pictures in this thread

Awesome! Thank you!

We went in November for about 5 days. It's no further from the border than Borrego - I wouldn't be as concerned as, for example, Organ Pipe. There is a lot of hunting there in the fall. Bighorn season is December. But the spring should be pretty quiet. We had a blast. Should be really awesome this time of year. We've got 2 videos from the trip up on our YouTube channel:

We are leaving tomorrow to pickup our new trailer in Oklahoma and then head to Padre Island National Seashore and then tour around the Big Bend area.

Congrats on the trailer @MTN RNR !!!! Can't wait to see it.

Did you end up going to kofa? I wouldn't mind going again to see other areas (or even some of the same areas)

We did! We went through it in a day. We have done a lot of desert trips lately and are mountain people, so didn't feel the need to spend as much time there as others. After KofA we took an old migrant route to Organ Pipe to finish out our trip.

Let me know ok?

@RET2 looks like I can break away Fri morning and return Sat night. Are you interested? Anyone else interested?

Looks like the weather shouldn't be too bad

I'm in for sure

Great!

Let me know if there is a specific area you want to see. I have only been once and basically followed the route that cartercd did in that linked thread above. It was really neat up until Hoodoo cabin then pretty boring after that. I was thinking heading west from Hoodoo cabin to Wilbanks cabin then working back to the 95 somehow. But really I am open for anything. Note there is about a 1 mile section that is closed between Bighorn Pass and Skull Rock, so that route out is not an option.

I'm just along for the ride enjoying the solitude and beauty. I have a propane fire if you want me to bring it. Probably just sleep inside rather than deal with tent setup?

We are planning to meet at the McDonalds in Alpine on Friday morning around 8:45-9:00 if anyone else is interested in this trip. Please post here or send a PM as well so we know to expect you.
