I came across this on Wasatch Cruisers and was wondering if anyone had specs or a build thread for it. I just got a first gen and basically want to steal his suspension specs.
I'm guessing chevy's in the rear and ruf, but was wondering if they were lifted springs and what size tires.

We may not know exactly what was done, but it should be possible to approximate it.

The other question is what do you wish to do with the truck? How much do you wish/have to spend? That can greatly influence which way you go.

I totally agree it doesn't look like a "thread kind of truck", but I came on a cheap solid axle first gen that I want to use as a very cheap trail truck. I guess I was wondering how he fit the (guessing) 37s on it while keeping it pretty low. I'm not in the business of buying and throwing random springs on it until I get the right height.
So, anyone know if I do chevy rears, ruf, and extend the bump stops if I can fit 35s or 37s without having to cut sheet metal. I have a e-locker taco rear axle completely stripped down and ready to throw on it.
Fab isn't a problem...... just looking for a good cheap spring combo.

look up Wristpin's Meatmobile build. He runs 37's I think, and does some other cool mods.

I am getting ready to back half a 1979 toy and run 63" chevy springs in the back I may end up running 56" or 59"springs don't hardly know yet and run the rear springs in the front. I have already pulled all the vacume line junk off and put propane on it. I will try to get some pics as I go along

Who still buys and shuffles spring stacks these days? That's what club members and a great local wrecker/recycler/shop are for! ;)

Clearancing is the easy part. We have a rig like that here, running on 37's and yes, about that height.

1" Body/Bed Spacers.

Chevy's, ford towers, etc.

We put some pos 28's on it, then rolled the tires with their centerline matching the center of the hubs and simply using a sharpie drew the circumference needed for the tires.

Pulled the passenger side filler neck so we didn't accidentally cut it then cut away.

We went back and added some side braces since we cut into the ones in the fenders then again using the tires as a guide used some round stock and bent up new trim for the fenders and spot welded them up, ground clean to look a little prettier and threw on some primer and krylon.

*I'll spare you all the directions on the high-steer to eliminate the j-arm, we're all pretty capable of finding those directions online.

I believe that the truck belongs to a member over on oilburners, a ford diesel forum. His screen name is Rotbox, if you want more info on the truck I could PM him and get some details if you wish.....

With tires that size u will need lower gears and that gets kinda pricy with lockers and installation. Note that the truck is also limited to up travel in the suspension. You will need more flex in both directions if you want to stay stable over uneven terrain. Just my experience but some may know better.

IMO 35's are pretty good, enough clearance and mass for most trails, but still reasonable with 4.11's.
I'm hoping to run some 35 AT's when I'm finally done cleaning up The Mule.
