i the only think my 2017 didn't come with is remote start, something i have had on my last few SUVs and do like to have.

I would like to add that, but the factory one kills the motor (what i have heard) when you get in to start it.

Is there any aftermarket alarms that also replace the factory key with their fob, I don't want to carry the factory fob, plus an alarm fob. I would like one that can also be used to start the car.

Is there one out there that can be used, and id like a fairly high end one

I did a little research on this earlier in this forum and reached the conclusion that Directed brand starters might meet some/most (but not all) of your requirements. I spoke to the install tech at a local car alarm install shop and they did, confirm, that the new Directed firmware for my 2011 LC would prevent the auto-shut-off when you open the door. I did not go this route (too much $$$ for what I wanted) so I can't confirm, but it does seem like the newer versions of Directed may get you closer to what you want. Give your local shop that supports Directed a call and see what they say. The new firmware came out this June IIRC.

The one thing that seemed could *not* be avoided was the dual-fob requirement due to the proximity sensors needed for push-button start. But, with the 'new' firmware and the auto-shut-off disabled, I'm not sure how this actually plays out. Another option would be the smartphone app only - it won't require a 2nd fob, but it does require a $8 monthly subscription (or thereabouts). Still would auto-shut-off perhaps?

FWIW, I did consider using techstream to program a Lexus credit card fob so I didn't technically have to carry two fobs on a key chain, but two fobs nonetheless.

BTW, I just went with the Directed 'triple click start' model which was about 25% the cost of OEM but with the benefit of greater range than the OEM FOB. Still have to carry a 2nd fob, but it's the size of piece of bubbleyum gum so I didn't mind, and for the price it will get me the bare-bones function of warming/cooling my car albeit with the annoying shut-off when opening the door. The 'new firmware' option was a gamble I didn't want to take for the additional money, so I am taking my $$$ saved and using it for other mods :)

Wow!

Thanks for the insight, that was just what i was looking for... and what i feared..... but i may settle on the auto start you have (and that would be a big plus for me)...

There are several other MUD'ers on here that have more experience with this, hopefully you find what you're looking for!

I have no direct experience, but I know that getting a good installer is really important. Our LC/LX are complex and it's possible to really screw things up with a sloppy/incorrect installation. In fact, I would say that unless it's really, really important to you to not have the engine shut off when getting in, go with OEM.
