I want to change the batteries on my two remote keys for my 2001 LC. Does the dealership need to do this in order to reprogram them or can I just open the keys and change out the batteries?

You can just change the batteries (no programming ) .

I was just using that as a phrase...

but thanks for the warning.

None taken...

I don't work for RS. Just something I usually say when I need batteries. So of for some CR1616 batteries!

And get a jeweler's Philips Head screw driver to get the key pod open.

off to radio shack tomorrow!

Wally World sells the 1616 Lithium 3.0 volt battery in the watch department. In case you haven't noticed, it takes an extremely small screwdriver to open the plastic shell and the transponder inside.

I recommend using some "blue" locktite on the screw when reassembling. The screw tends to loosen and thats when you break the poorly designed case.
