Ok, I'm running a BJ74 with 1hz and toyota turbo kit.

I'm running a 30% Kero/Diesel mix because of a recent price hike and wanting to clean things out.

Everything runs fine.

BUT.....

My EGT is running about 100deg cooler than it does on the same hill with diesel. This particular hill in top gear OD, on diesel, will get up to about 550c, using kero....and REALLY trying...I couldn't get past 425.

This is TOTALLY contrary to everything I ever thought about this setup. Whats going on here?

Who knows?? Kero probably burns cooler than diesel. I would be more concerned about the pump. I dont know if it will lubricate properly and I dont know how long the seals will last before it starts leaking.

Im one who tends to think if it was a good idea, everyone would be already doing it:confused:

Everybody does it...

Actually, many people in many countries and many truck DO do it. Especially during winter. I've never run over a 50/50 and that was in my old Pajero. I found, after I ran a good mix, smoke went down and I got better mileage.

I ran jetA-1 jet fuel in my bj60 for about 5 years without ever using normal diesel fuel. My jet fuel supplier said it would burn a little cooler - and it did, and less smoke, nicer to drive behind and the price was right. I never had any problems with it and it is still driving to this day. Back then the price was 29 cents a litre for me - so it was a no brainer.

I'll run stove oil or kerosene in my truck now if I can get it cheaper. Just called stinsons fuel in town here, stove oil is 97c/ltre, kerosene is 1.12 a litre - so no savings there.

Add a dollar to your price and that is what I pay for Jet A-1 now.....

Diesel is cheaper.

I used Jet fuel when I have to scrap it. Occasionally for maintenance I end up draining some and don't like to put it back in. So I burn it off.

I've used it lots and it's really hard to tell a difference.
