update:

after a week of some heinous roads in death valley - saline valley, others. the mount has yet to budge, i am very pleased with stability even with the big kenwood remote head.
 
Glad that it held up. That Saline valley road is brutal. Somewhere between 40-60MPH the washboards start to smooth out. :) Just gotta watch out for the drainages cut across the road! ;)

heh. yeah totally agree on all accounts. those drainage ruts REALLY sneak up at night! :o:bang:
 
How do you get the puck off the wind sheild?

Edit: At the junk yard I mean.

i pulled a couple off with the stem, didn't even damage the windshield. for the first one i took off the stem and then set a flat blade screwdriver on the side of the puck and "coerced" it sideways with a "precision alignment mass". (yes i just hit it with a hammer). that didn't damage the window either, fyi.

I surmised as much and entertained the idea of employing a similar method. Thank you for confirming my assumptions.
