We recently purchased a Kamp-rite dbl tent cot from trdparts4u. We used it on the Rubithon dbl locker run. We used it 4 nights and it worked great ! It sets up very easy and fast, and is very comfortable.
I secured it to the top of my 40 w/full cage with 2 ratchet straps. It weighs 30 % of our mombassa RTT, which was great as we did'nt run any bypasses and the trail gets gnarly in spots and it did'nt really affect the COG.
We saw a few of the single tent cots, and alot of people were curious about ours. It was nice not to have to sleep on the ground (granite mostly).
The only thing i don't like is the fiberglass poles (2) that make the dome. The connector is in the middle of the 2 poles and puts too much pressure at the top of the arc, effectively kinking the fiberglass, and is now broken. I just ordered parts for Easton aluminum poles that should hold up much better.
We are glad we purchased this and can't wait to use it again.
Thanks to the people a trdparts4u, you rock !
Mike
P.S. We also bought the PETT system and it works great. The
really liked the privacy and convenience.
