First posting on this forum. I have spent a lot of time lurking and search here thought.
My son-in-law was hunting for a Land Cruiser and came across a 2002 Land Cruiser on Auto Trader that was in great shape with navigation. It was bought from the original owner, 68,480 miles, had a clean CarFax and passed a PPI without a few minor issues (Brake light out, key remote battery dead). It had brand new Michelin tires. The timing belt has not been done. Interior was spotless with the exception of the drivers mat which has a wear spot from the heel. Body is excellent as is the paint. The rear bumper is the only thing that needs some attention. It is faded and has some nicks. He will need to add a tow hitch. The owner was one of those guys that did not turn a wrench. He had a stack of receipts for the Toyota dealer where he had it serviced regularly. He even had the dealer replace the windshield wipers.
Cost was fair, but not a killer deal; $19,900.
So, being the good father-in-law, I did a road trip to the San Diego area, met the owner for the PPI then brought the car home. It was a 335 mile round trip half of which was with the Land Cruiser on the trailer.
