I may try to get help doing the final lift out of the engine that night, or already have it done, or forgatabout it and let's have a beer.

I got the tranny off of the engine by grinding the bell housing in half, there was the pilot bearing stuck on the gearbox shaft, would not pass through the friction plate, so that's the end of that mystery.
Tom kindly donated a replacement bell housing, and a more modern 4 speed pressure plate - cheers Tom.
This week, it's head off, pushrods out, cam out, plate off and crank out.
PJ, what's the name and number of your crank guy (needs a regrind Ed).
Once that's done, it's just a case of putting it all back together and living happily ever after.

Thank's Ed, The engine I have has been completly reworked, so I'm going to stick with it.
