What about where to buy both wedco's and scepter at the best price?

You can't buy either of the cans legally in Texas. Texas is a CARB states as of 1/1/2008.

I bought 2 of the NATO cans from Sportsman's Guide. I think they were 14.95@, they might have had a twofer price, but they were about $40 shipped. One was brand new-looking, the other needed a little more prep, but not beat on by any means. I scuffed them up and shot them with urethane. They don't leak, are epoxy-lined and have held up well.

Used 5 - Gal. Czech Military Gas Can, Olive Drab, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide

Can you still order them on the net and have them shipped to TX?

Here is a paper that describes all the various types of military jerry cans and holders. Note that the sources are no longer valid due to changes in the CARB laws for the whole USA.

Right now, the surplus NATO cans from CTD are probably the best deal going. For new cans, it would be Wedco all the way for me along with the Wedco fuel nozzles (NOT the cheap chinese nozzles from CTD).

Good luck.

The nato cans I have carried inside of rigs have not released any fuel smell at all, they are great.

But....

The cheap spout that I have has no vent so it takes minutes to empty one 20 liter can. It sucks to have to hold that heavy ass can up there for that long.

Are the genuine Wedco spouts vented at all?

Mine are, sorry don't have a good pic of it.

I use the non-CARB Wedco mounted sideways and haven't had any leaks. I do have some Scepter water cans I picked up used from the local Army/Navy surplus store. While there, I noticed several others with the seam ripped out. I can't imagine what it would take to rip the seam out of one of those. I figure it was either full and froze or run over by a HUMMER. Has anybody else seen how this is done ?

You are going to laugh but i got one at Harbor Freight last year for 40 bucks......dam good can it has some kind of a spill proof spout even when the spout is assembled and you think you are ready to pour.

You have to push down on the top then the gas will come out. THIS THING WILL NOT LEAK:grinpimp:

They arrived to my front door in Calif...no issues at all !!
So much for the CARB issue eh !!
2 gas and spout
1 water

Great cans !!

I bought the Wedco can with the $10 spout and am a little disappointed with the spout's mounting. Looks like it will fall off the can at the first dime I run over. Here's a couple of photos. Maybe I'm not doing it right??
