The 1993-1995 80 series had the A442, then they switched to the A343, and if the valve bodies are the same...
There is a fairly large supply of these trucks and parts locally or on Mud

Just thinking out loud if it's a possible option for those of us cringing at the thought of repairing/replacing our aging JDM A442's

I got a rebuild from wholesale automatics back in 2007. It came with a lower stall TC and the extreme valve body. I've done 50,000 of mostly towing and wheeling and its been solid. I don't mind the higher stall of the stock TC- its better for use in the bush and towing, but the lower stall is really nice on the highway- puts more power down.

Off the boat, a tranny service (my tranny calved a week after I bought it because of a clogged filter- oil stavation) should be immediate. A proper air to oil cooler should be on everyone's must have list. NA spec 80 series have a large air to oil cooler stock, JDMs just have the oil to water circuit in the rad.

The extreme valve body is another must have in my books if you're towing or using the truck hard. The higher clutch pack pressures make for harder shifts, but less slippage is less heat and wear. The added lockup in 3rd is awesome for climbing hills.

My 95 gasser has the A343. Just sayin, if your getting a donor truck or buying a tranny sight unseen, make sure you get the tranny you want.:D

man am i the shoots on the computer lost it all twice i didnt fix it but was told that if i didnt cook the tc that it is probably is the siliniods an in frame job also but i had spare drivetrain so i just swapped the motor trany trans.case funny they were only 50 km difference in millage.i am waiting to either do an extreme wholesale rebuild or flog it all.i was told the best guy is benz automatics in maple ridge, suprisingly the cheapest too ithink he said 2700 basis rebuild extra for the wholesale stuff though i would recomend springing for the wholesale tc so you dont have to go in again, and add a fj80 external cooler after.i talked to him quite smart with this particular trany also.i wouldnt be driveing at all,my trany was shuttering we thought it was a mount i only put 20 km on it before i did the swap.i am assuming you have the cable adj right.sorry not much help and for not doing a follow up was going to send it off but got tied up in a nightmare rezoneing subdivision

Hi everyone on this thread....im in real trouble with my trnasmition 442f...since I bought my automatic LC long years ago, it never worked allright but now Im devoted to finally make it work all right, discovered failures with the solenoids and other, my question is, all the 4 solenoids passed the resistance test showing like 12.7 ohms each, but when I feed them with 12 volts none of them make any noise, cant hear any clicking...does this toyota land cruiser automatic transmition make any noise when they are working or not? Thank you for your guidance

Also I like to add, that when you apply air into them, and feed 12 volts, they work blocking the air, but NO CLICKING NOISE WHATSOEVER
