Hi all

Bought myself an HDJ81.

I need a few things serviced. Anyone been to Japan Auto in Abby for that?

I need the tranny serviced. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Paul

....many more questions to follow.

P.S. I can't read the Coastal Cruisers page properly on my computer to submit my application for membership. What to do?

Hi Paul,

I live in Abbotsford. I haven't any experience with Japan Auto, but if it's only a service All-Trans (on South Fraser Way) did a good job on my GMC transmission rebuild a few years ago. But then again, you may want to stick to someone who knows JDM's.

Come to the meeting next Thursday!

Hi Paul. I have used Shinji once, the first time I changed the gear oils. The Safari filler plugs have the rep of being very difficult to remove, so I thought I'd let him have the first go. He also did a valve adjustment. If I remember right it was around $200 for the gear oils (difs, t-case and tranny) and another $200 for the valve adjustment including a new valve cover gasket. I have never heard about anyone complain about Shinji's work yet. At times, I also get some basic parts from them - they are not cheap! But most JDM specialty parts aren't. If you don't mind driving a bit, I highly recommend Rob or Ciaran at Cruiserland (near 204th and 16th) and a little futher away you have Steve at EBI in Port Moody.

Thanks guys.

Is Ciaran still working on Cruisers? My brother told me that he has a full time BCAA job now. Do you have a phone # for him?

I would like to do most of the basic maintenance myself. I have ordered Max Ellery's book for the truck. Can you get a factory service manual in english for these?

I'm planning on coming to your next meeting. When and where? (I see the post, I've been up since 5 AM)

Thanks again, Paul
