Hey Folks, I've got a 1998 RZJ95W in Japan. I am working to install some fog lights on it, but have hit a snag on the wiring up the relay.

I was hoping I could simply swap out the light stalk on the steering column for one with a fog light switch, and it would trigger the relay under the hood. Unfortunately after purchasing a new stalk, I tested all the wires from the 17-pin header and none actually go to the Fog relay.

So after switching back to my old light stalk, I'm now wondering if anyone can help me figure out if there is any wiring for my fog relay behind the dashboard, or if I just need to wire this entirely myself with an aftermarket relay. I had an initial look behind the kick panel and don't see any dangling connectors that look useful. It is very tight under there so I have not yet dug very deep.

I got my hands on this wiring diagram for the J95. It does indicate there is a separate fog lamp switch connected to the relay. Unfortunately the color is simply "red" so it really leaves me looking for a needle in a haystack.

Do any of you have an J95 with a fog lamp switch? Do you happen to have photos of what it looks like and the wiring of where it goes? Would be very helpful.

So I have found the wire for the actual Fog lights that Toyota left behind. It was left dangling on the right headlamp cable (Red White and White Black cables) as indicated on the wiring diagram.

Sadly searching for the relay wire under the dashboard is leading nowhere. I have to assume the relay wire has been fed across the firewall, but finding which cable bunch it’s been fed to is difficult.

Going to keep focusing on the light step cables and see if any of that leads somewhere.

I realize this has become a monologue but I’ll just close the loop for the next lost soul who considers installing for lights with factory wiring/relays on a J95.

Toyota has make it real easy. Under the dash you will eventually find the switch wiring. On my RHD model it was on the left near the center console hidden as shown in the photos. It’s on a 8 pin connector.

Eventually under the dash I did find the fog light connector. They even left extra slack to make it easier to wire up. Photos attached.

In summary, you will need two connectors:
- 8P090-YZ1080-M-tr (for the switch on your dashboard)
- 6‑176143‑6 - to plug in under the Bonnet and wire up your lights

You will of course also need the relay and fuse but those should be obvious.
