Hi,

We have a J90 imported from NZ and the left side mirror had been manually pushed and something inside broke, it doesn’t move under power, it makes noise but no movement. Any suggestion on where I might find a replacement in the USA, either a full mirror or just the motor unit?

Thanks

Have you tried moving it around to see if it will reengage? Flip it all the way forward and then hit the button if you haven’t tried that. I’ve been amazed at how tough and resilient these mirrors are. One of mine has a cracked housing like it dropped onto something but it still works fine. The mirrors try to reset themselves when one is flipped and the other is not, or if you push the retract button without the key on, they will retract or fold out when you fire the ignition up next.

Amayama has the whole mirror listed but you could probably get a used one from eBay.

If you can track down a J90 mirror locally at a salvage yard, it’ll probably save you some time. Swapping just the motor can be frustrating, especially when the plastic clips are old and brittle. I’ve had decent luck with places like RockAuto and Pull-A-Part for older Toyota parts, so a complete mirror assembly might be the easier route.

It’s a bit like setting up a 4x4 for dune bashing or a desert safari drive, sometimes replacing the whole part is simpler and more reliable than trying to fix one small piece in harsh conditions.
