Hi all,

First post here as I begin my (current) LC journey.

Im looking at a kid 90s Prado J78.

The hood and roof have clearcoat peeling on them. It appears to have begun in the last 2 years. The rest of the body and paint is in good shape , with minimal rust.

If I was to purchase I would likely have the hood and roof repainted.

My question...am I likely to see clear coat peeling in other areas. These I would expect to be the most common being close to horizontal.

I'm loath to purchase if I think a full body respray would be needed.

Thanks!

Hello,

Hood and roof clearcoat peeling are expected (or should I say normal?) after so many years.

It may be possible that either front fenders or rear panels develop peeling in the future.

Keep in mind that rust repairs, big and small, involve painting.

If, overall, there is minimal rust on the body, then the truck is worth to purchase and respray in full.

I would budget a respray and make an offer accordingly.
