It's on.....NEW Slee Off-road rear bumper

Originally my question was going to be, "why is the mount for the hi-lift on the opposite side as compared to the 80s bumper", but now I think it's because the tire is centered in the rear, rather than being offset.

So...now my question is, "why did you decide to center the tire? Aesthetics? Better view?
I'm just curious.

I can't speak for Mr. Slee, BUT ( :) )....I've been begging him for a bumper for 3 years!

I asked for:

1. Aggressive and small size
2. Tire CENTERED
3. High-lift jack mount

At first he said that he might not make it that aggressive because he didn't want to distract from the looks of the 100. I guess as time progressed and more and more people began wheeling their 100s, Christo decided to be aggressive after all. End result:

I GOT WHAT I WANTED! Thanks SLEE!

Based on the fact that I see a color matched hi-lift, can I safely assume that you had the bumper painted or powder coated to match?

Yes. The Slee powder coated surpace makes for a great primer. Just some very light sanding and you're ready to paint. With the bumper's curves it'll also be easy to touch up after I scrape it in Moab. :)

As for the hi-lift? Well......if I need it.....you know I'll use somebody elses FIRST! :D

Oh, and might as well post on this thread for info purposes:

The bumper (using the receiver attachement) has already pulled out a severly stuck-in-a-snowy-ditch Tahoe. Not a sound, nor any difficulty. It took quite the load to do it. I came after a huge Chevy P/U tried and failed. He was really stuck but we did it.

That looks too cool for words. Envy comes in the color of a matching off road warrior, bumper, and hi-lift jack!

I'm a lucky man. I've got a local guy who's done my lifts, all my mods, custom bumpers on the 80, and everything. He did the Slee bumper install, paint, hi-lift apart - paint - reassemble, the whole thing for $350. How couldI go wrong? Then, when they need touch-up like my front ARB has needed, it's $20. Lucky! :)

Hey, receiver is not a recovery point. Use those two heavy assed hooks on the back. :D

Definetly looks good. In fact, my wife says that if I get a setup like that, she'll drive it. Oh wait, might not be a good thing.

It'll be interesting to see how much paint comes off in Moab; I reckon you'll hit quite a few times depending on what trails you do, and you are going to do the difficult ones right? Are you going to reroute the exhaust at all? Oh, and make sure to whack it really hard coming off a ledge, let us know how it holds up. :D

Hmmm...come to think of it, I should try targetting a buildup by May for Cruiser Moab.

So it was painted by a shop and not rattle canned? And they will re-touch any scratches for $20? Man, you must be livin' right.

BTW John, how's the rear view with the wheel back there?

I actually like it centered. I can see to the sides of it which is important because the C (?) pillar blocks some back there. If it were to the side I'd have one bad side. Did anybody get that? Anyhow, it's just the tail gaters that I can't see much of. I'm OK with it.

hey shotz not to be a stickler or a winer but i use my lx for a daily driver and use the back all the time is it a pain to swing out the tire each time??? this is one of the sticky points for me i know its a stupid one but just asking if you use the back alot?
