I have GREAT news and ok news.

The great news is the gears will be arriving TODAY! Which means we have re-gears ready to go out today.

Auburn Gear 2G Sequoia Rear Ring and Pinion

The ok news is I am currently out of lockers so if you want to order a re-gear and a locker you'll have to wait for the lockers to get here before I can ship out your gears. if you want the locker and gear combo.

I know people are going to want to know which gears to buy depending on tire size so I made this little table to help you guys out. If you don't have the tow package, your Sequoia came with 4.10 gears. If you have the tow package your Sequoia came with 4.30 gears. So the first two rows of the spreadsheet calculate the RPM's for the engine at 70mph with the factory gears and the factory tire size. I put those two numbers on the last column so you can compare the RPM's of the factory gear and tire size to the calculated RPM depending on your gear ratio and your tire size. Then you can pick the gear ratio that you feel would suit you best depending on the configuration that you want to run.

Hi there Im new here but Im switching over from a Fj cruiser to a 2nd gen Sequoia so I was curious about a front locker as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I wasnt sure if I could use the ARB front locker for Tundras for the 2008's or new? Thank you guys for the help.

Really great news!
Already bought 4.88 gears and Rear Locker from Tandem Offroad! Waiting to receive and install.
Good to hear! Hit me up for the install kit when you get a chance. PM me or email me at alex@tandemauto.com and we will give you a discount. We are planning to do a discount later and I want to make sure we get you squared away since you've already paid full price. I want to make sure you're not left out.
@mexellent , Could you please advice what type of gear oil should be used now for the rear differential with Auburn Locker and Auburn Gears?
Break in period is about 500 miles. You need to make sure that you don't drive the vehicle at a constant speed. Just vary the speed and go easy on the load if you can. Do not get on the highway and put it on cruise control. As far as the gear oil goes, you don't need anything special for the locker or the gears. Just use your favorite oil that meets factory specifications and you should be good to go.

You can use the ARB front locker for the Tundras, the Eaton electric locker for the Tundras , and the Harrop for the 200 Series Land cruisers. All the front carriers should be the same.

I personally like the electronic lockers better because you have to be really meticulous with the air lines on an air locker to make sure there are no issues. Plus there are no seals on the lockers to worry about.

Thank you for the info

Anyone have any DIY resources in how to install this oneself? Is it something the average Schmoe can do in the driveway? Or…should it be hired out? Wish I could see soMe relevant videos to gauge my abilities.

I would not suggest doing in the driveway. Find someone who is good at gears and go that route.

One thing we could do for the guys that want to do the install themselves is go ahead and regear the 3rd member and send out the whole unit. That way there is no regearing to be done and you can just pop out the old unit and pop in the new unit.

Interesting. Would you be using the old ones that we send you as your cases/enclosures for the next guy? Sort of like how they do remanufactured cores?

Yes. The only problem is the whole unit is extremely beefy and very heavy. I think it weighs 100+ lbs so it might have to be freighted.

Hey @mexellent or @JLo with Tandem - what’s the compatible front locker system? Anything that fits a Tundra or is it Sequoia specific?

The Eaton 14217-1 is what is currently available to put in the front diff. You could also get an ARB but then you'd have to mess with air lines. :yuck:
