shoud be able to find a good used one, I picked up 2, boht under $40 each. Also a mini truck carb unit will work and I think a fj62 uses the same.

Any coil of that style will work.
There are other igniters from 6-cyl motors that use the same signal as the
2F. All the igniter does is turn the primary circuit for the coil on and off.
IIRC there was one from a late-80s Buick that was like $10. Good parts
house will be able to x-ref.
Always check your grounds. 99.999% of all electrical problems are bad
ground, or started out that way.
Check the ground on your fuel cut solenoid. Make sure it's clicking with the
key on. (This sounds familiar.)
Disconnect the soft fuel line coming out of the fuel pump and put it in a
clear, fuel-safe container. Crank the starter for a few seconds. Should put
3-5 ounces of fuel into the container. If not, it's a fuel delivery issue.
Reconnect the fuel line. Drip a few drops of fuel into the carb. Crank.
Should fire up, sputter and die. If it does, you have spark. If not, swap in
a diesel. :D

seems to be ignitor....these are expensive!

i was a bit confused on some of the replies on this previously. is there a cheaper ignitor available rather than OEM?

OEM runs about $300, if from the dealer, i have not checked prices online yet.

HJ60 mentioned ignitor from a late 80s buick could work. any idea of best parts online service to start with for this?

I have been told that a mini truck ignitor will work, so maybe 79-85? also any 79-87 cruiser will work as well as I think 88-92 fj62/80

I would look for a used one, I have picked em up for $30.
