So I recently installed a 1993 pickup MC on my FJ40. For some reason, the rear seams to be locking up too fast since the swap. Since both the fj40 OEM MC and the 1993 were drum (please correct me if I am wrong), it should act similar to my OEM MC?

BTW I swapped to disks on the front and had taken the residual valve out of the old MC and it worked amazing.

Since I am not too familiar with the 1993 vintage pickups, does anyone who have one chime in on if I am missing something here?

One option could look at manually adjusting the drums by loosening them up a little.

does your FJ40 have a proportioning valve? The Toyota truck would’ve and it will automatically adjust the rear brake pressure based off of the load in the bed. If it doesn’t I’d put a manual proportioning valve to adjust the rear brakes to your liking.
