do yourself a favor and buy a new trans from the dealer. especially since you're spending the money to rebuild the engine. getting a used trans won't save you a whole bunch and you're gonna end up with a worn out piece of junk.
parts to rebuild them are expensive and difficult to locate depending on where you live. the new units from toyota sell for $1800.
you'll have to buy the shifter, shift knob and the 5th gear oil funnel seperately. the t-case shift mechanism is also slightly different depending on which t-case you plan on running. i ended up modifying the stock setup to work with an fj62 standard trans/doubler swap i just completed.

Tanks. Have read that post through a few times. Didn't realize that the new tranny was available and at a decent price considering the source.

definately go new. i spent more on my h55 and the rebuild kit/work than i would have paid to get one from cruiser dan brand new. the used ones typically need a few new synchros, mine needed a new 3rd gear as well.
a new one will last longer than your truck. you wont go wrong.
