I have a basic 94 toyota single cab, 5 speed 2wd with the 22re and I really want a 4wd truck and I love working on them so could this wrecked 94 toyota work to use it as parts to convert mine? I know the wrecked one has a 3.0 V6. I don't know if the parts vary that much between the v6 and the 4 banger. Should I hold out for a wrecked 4wd 22re? And I know it will be easier to buy a 4wd truck but I'd rather not

The only way I'd ever convert a 2wd to 4wd is with an SAS. That looks like its got front end damage. Plus the v6 tranny won't bolt up to a 22re.

I would look for a truck that wasn't totaled out, you never know what easter eggs yup will find with a backed up drive train.

The SAS could always be done later down the line but that's good to know the v6 parts wouldn't really work with my 22re. I had plans to lift this truck slightly so my tires would fit and make a custom off road bumper. Would it be silly if I did those things while it's still a 2wd truck? I never got stuck and I don't do serious off reading, just a little here and there but I really don't want my tires to rub.

I did a very similar swap like you are describing... My truck was a plain Jane 2wd 97 with a 4cyl 5-speed. I swapped the drivetrain from a 1985 Toyota with a 22r 5-speed and a solid axle. It wasn't too bad at all. I would definitely recommend finding a complete 4cyl truck that hasn't been in too bad of an accident. I had a friend that bought a donor truck that had been in a gentle rearender and once he got it apart he found a cracked transfer case from the drive shaft being pushed forward... I would imagine that a IFS swap would be a lot more work. Here is a picture of my truck....I dont have a beofre, but it was dorky. It was white, had a cap and 14" wheels! Lame!

Your '94 has (basically) the same frame as a 79-85 4wd. I would consider it completely unreasonable and very hard to adapt the front suspension and axle from a 86+ truck.

The right parts would be a 85-95 4cyl transmission & transfer case, 86-95 steering box, 79-85 front axle, 79-95 rear axle. Then make sure your brake master cyl matches the brakes on your front axle.
