First thing I'd do is get a cylinder leak down test done.

I can just see my money sprouting wings and fluttering away I'm headed to Pismo tommorrow...I'm going to tow my fj-40 over with my dads GMC Dura max..Call me if you want to hit the dunes...I'll be there until next Monday...

Also...The truck seems to still run strong when I have it opened up on the freeway...It's just getting hot and idleing rough...

Should I drive it to the shop, or have it towed over?
