Is 12v / 24v wiring is harness the same?

I am planning a HJ to FJ drivetrain swap and have some questions?

Is the grade of wire different between 12v and 24v cruisers or can I just swap out items like bulbs and windshield motor, etc. rather than swap out the whole harness?

I don't have first hand experience with this one but it stands to reason that the 24V electrical system moves half the current and would use smaller conductors. This would make it unsuitable for a 12V vehicle.

Additionally, BJ and HJ trucks have numerous wiring differences compared to FJs. A wiring harness swap would not be a straight across affair.

For what it's worth,

You know, I'm starting a similar project. I'm swapping a 12H-T into my '87 FJ. Why are you wanting to swap the wiring harness? I found it way easier to get a 12V alt and starter from Oz. Then the whole vehicle is 12V. Super simple.

The BJ60s had 12V alts and starts. Not sure how similar the starter is though.

There are alot of differences if I recall correctly- not to mention alot of differences between the FJ and HJ. Probably more so between the Petrol and Diesel engines. Can you get the wiring harness with the new engine, you will be amazed at how many wires even a "simple" engine like the 2h has.

The biggest differences between the petrol and diesel engine will bethe glow plug relay/ starter relay/ glow plug timer?/ EDIC/.
