Best of luck, if you can’t wrench find one that’s not rusty… if you can wrench find one that’s not rusty. I’d almost suggest a nice 4Runner and not a 80 series just due to the barrier entry of 10+k for a decent one. Almost every repair will be expensive if you aren’t handy on the tools or have someone in your life that is.

I certainly appreciate the looking out! I'm pretty handy with tools but absolutely plan to avoid getting a rusty one. Major body work or welding isn't in my wheel house. I debated a 4runner too but I'd like to use this for dispersed camping and would like the extra room inside.

Good on ya, you won’t be disappointed. I got a semi rusty one but also I got it for 1000$ and I can swing a wrench hard. I’v been having a lot of fun working on this thing but also I’ve been a mechanic for 20 years and I’v worked on lots of yotas in my day but no 80 series ever darkened my bay doors so it’s been a lot of fun to work on.

I'm looking forward to it! I've needed a project for a while now and taking my DD offroad through tight turns and trees running down it makes me cringe. This will help scratch two itches hopefully.
